Training: What an exciting opportunity to explore your potential while testing the limits, physical and mental, of your inner core! Our training program is customized to suit every age group and flexible enough to accommodate the needs of beginners to elite runners. The success of our program has been based on a strong commitment from a dedicated set of coaches, a strong support structure developed for first time runners, and an inspiring cause. Our training program begins in May. The training program is structured to fit into two major parts: Saturday Long Runs and the Weekday Runs. We meet every Saturday (8AM in May & October and 7AM from June-September). The schedule and locations are posted at MCP Training Schedule. We have runners who range from 8:00 a mile up to 14+ minutes per miles, so I am sure that we can accommodate you. We usually have about 40 to 60 runners at any given training run. We run, have refreshments afterwards and occasionally will have seminars on various topics including nutrition, hydration, equipment, injury prevention, etc. We will also host training runs during the week (Tuesdays and Thursdays in Herndon, VA and Thursdays in Silver Spring, MD). Our coaches are available at each training run to provide advice and assistance. The coaches are available on-line as well to answer questions or provide training guidance. It is best if you have been running at least three miles, three times per week for a month prior to joining our training program in May. The runners in our grass roots program have said that the cause helped them focus on reaching the finish line and that the satisfaction of teaming with a great charity lasted well beyond the gratifying pains and sore muscles of race day. NOW THAT’S RUNNING WITH MEANING!!
